Project: SARAP Shirt

Last year, SARAP hosted a general body meeting where Filipinx-American small business owners and creators were able to promote their businesses and share how they got their start (Momo was one of those creators!) While deciding on how to put out merchandise for our 2021 semester, our club expressed wanting to collaborate with an artist that brought our vision to life. We immediately thought of reaching out to Momo, who not only executed our ideas phenomenally, but made the project feel like a bunch of friends playing around with color combos and a punny twist on a club name. We're so happy to be working with a Filipinx creator to celebrate FAHM this year for our merch.

The vision we presented to Momo during our first meeting was “SARAP Catering Services.” The literal meaning of “SARAP” translates to “delicious” or “tasty,” so we thought it would be a fun play on words to refer to our club as a catering service. The idea of creating a Filipinx small business also pays homage to how we first met Momo! SARAP Catering Services is a "company" that serves as a reminder to everyone that supporting small businesses is important.

Combining those ideas with New York fashion, we designed a street wear style shirt that shares our message. We wanted a shirt that felt like something we would buy in our everyday lives, regardless of being in the club or not. We felt the catering company vibe suited our taste perfectly.

With the profits of this collaboration, we plan to make SARAP a bigger and better club, a more inclusive and welcoming place for everyone to celebrate Filipinx culture.
